This was a kind of speedwriting test for me. I had taken some footage of bees in my garden and gave myself one day to come up with something. I'm not very good at composing quickly, so this was quite a challenge for me!

I thought I would try to write a piece of music for a Norfolk village. I picked Stokesby, which is a picturesque broadland village on the River Bure. It was easy to get inspired as it is a lovely village and I was able to get some nice footage.

The name has Danish origins meaning 'good grazing by the water'. Today it is a popular place to visit by foot along the riverside footpaths and by boat...

We recently moved to a village in the heart of the Broads so we could be surrounded by wonderful landscapes and nature. From our new base we found a lovely route to cycle and enjoy the countryside. I tried to film the ride but the first time I found the camera had not always been pointing the same way I was cycling, so it took a couple attempts to get footage of the whole route. Here's the result... To me it's a celebration of Norfolk lanes as referenced in John Betjeman's poem 'Norfolk'.... 'These Norfolk lanes, recall lost innocence. The years falls off and find me walking back...'

So the title 'Music for Norfolk Lanes' takes inspiration from Betjeman, and also from Eno's amazing work 'Music for Airports'. The footage is also a celebration of Spring, which is a wonderful time to be alive. Peace to you and thank you for your interest.
